As advertised in the Beginner Swimming article, registration is open as of 6 AM on January 24th. Sign up now to get your swim stroke developed and ready for training!
I apologize for the delay after the Tri 101 class, but the beginner base plan is now available on the Training Plans section of the website (see the "Training" menu at the top of the page).
If you weren't at the class, this four week long base training cycle is intended to be repeated until it is time to start your race plan.
The durations prescribed in this plan are targeted to beginner triathletes, however only you know your body best and if certain durations are not possible you are free to modify. The plan also calls for six days of training per week. The goal here is to grow accustomed to setting aside some amount of time per day. If a day needs to be skipped, at this point the best suggestion we have is to eliminate the mid-week cycling workout in preference for more consistency in the swim and run training due to the higher skill levels requried for those two sports.
If you have specific questions you are *strongly* encouraged to post your question to the "Ask the Coach" forums!!! Such questions might revolve around topics like "I've never run for 20 minutes before - what should I do to build up?" or "I'm in the beginning swimming program and need to do drill work. How many days should I do that instead?" or "I have no idea how to do some of these strength exercises are, how do I learn more?"
Without your feedback we won't understand what our individual member's needs are so please let us know where you are unsure of things.
Happy Training!
