There will be NO Performance Cycling  class on Tuesday, March 30th or on Sunday, April 4th due to Spring Break and Easter Weekend events.  We will continue with our progression of workouts (we'll be on week 8) the following week.  Our final dates for the class will be:  May 4th for the Tuesday class and May 9 for the Sunday class.  On our final class date we will be doing a second time trial to get an idea of the growth that took place over our 12 week program.  This will work out perfectly for us to all ride together and make an incredibly strong showing at the Arlington 500 on May 16th!  PLEASE consider registering for this event- it'll be so much fun to show off all of our hard work!

The League of Illinois Bicyclists had meetings in Illinois’ Congressional offices in Washington D.C. to promote bicycling and a bike-friendly federal transportation bill. As the weather warms and we start cycling outdoors both individually and in groups, it's good to keep in mind where we're going as far as legislation that creates a better biking situation for us all.

The Arlington Heights Bike Swap is set for Saturday, April 24th at Centennial Park (1209 Burr Oak Drive, Arlington Heights, IL). Centennial Park is located adjacent to Riley School. Sponsored by the Arlington Heights Bicycling Club, the event is run like a garage sale where sellers name their own prices. Bikes can be submitted starting at 7:30AM and purchasing begins at 9AM. It's a great way to find a bike if you are new to the sport or have outgrown your current bike. You can also sell/buy accessories (last year, someone had a dozen saddles to sell!) Click here for more details.

Due to the positive feedback received regarding the EAD strength training clinic, we have been working with Jim Inman on a series of strength training classes geared toward our club.

If we have 12 members interested in signing up for a twelve week program we can get a group discount of $119 per participant. The time they are proposing is Monday evening at 6 or 8 PM. If we have less than 12 people they may still be able to offer the class but at a higher per-participant cost. Classes could start as soon as March 22nd.

Folks, check this one out!

The Arlington 500 will take place on Sunday, May 16th starting at Barrington High School.

http://www.cyclearlington.com/default.htm

The Arlington 500 is a recreational bike ride over lightly traveled roads in Lake County. You have the option of doing a 31, 44, 55 or 69 mile (500 furlongs) route. It's a fully supported ride, including maps, rest stops with food and drink, bike shop support, toilets, and support vehicles.

This is a great opportunity to get in a long ride, especially if you've never gone more than 15-20 miles on your bike before -- having all the logistics support is a huge plus!

Give this one some thought and stay tuned...

For the past couple weeks, we have had several bikes open (between 4-7 bikes!)  If you were looking to take part in this class and were registered on the wait-list, we encourage you to show up on Tuesday or Sunday and take advantage of the bikes that are empty.  Please consider bringing other workout gear for just in case no bikes are free.  However, chances are pretty good that you may be able to hop on and ride with us!

For those that are registered for class- if you cannot make it, we'd really love it if you could please post your vacancy on the forums under the "Performance Cycling" discussion thread.
